It's nothing fancy but Dirk's can easily become a regular place I call home. Despite hit or miss service at times, the drinks are cold and I feel quite cozy at this establishment. I can understand why it's a lot of locals favorite in the area. It just feels familiar when you walk in. I give it the A-ok! They also have the best grilled cheese (american, swiss, cheddar) & tater tots. Always with a side of ranch!

We went to Dirks looking for reasonably priced bar food & drinks. I was surprised at the drinks & food. The drinks were not strong at all & the food was better then ok. I have to rave about the onion rings. They were pretty fresh & lightly breaded & crispy, not to greasy. The only thing I didn't like is that I order the onion rings as a sub for my fries that came with the burger but I was charged the full price for the rings. There was only 1 waitress & 1 bartender on a Thursday night. There was a trivia game going on & the place was pretty packed so the staff was having a hard time keeping up.

I was in town for work, staying by Zona Rosa and found this place back behind the hotel. It was Tuesday night, so the special was fried chicken. I'm SO glad I got it instead of a sandwich or burger. The chicken was moist inside with a good ccrunchy coating. With mashies , gravy and corn, it was a great, local watering hole meal. Folks were friendly and not pretentious. Do stop in! It's worth it!!

Definitely an A-OK, dive-ish bar tucked away in a local strip mall. Dirk's is one of those places you'd probably never know was there unless you went with a local...or were really bored, checked out the Yelp app, and decided to give it a try! (And yes, the latter is exactly what happened yesterday afternoon.) After watching the disappointing Chief's game, we weren't quite ready to call it a day and spend the rest of our Sunday on the couch. I mentioned that I wouldn't mind finding a cool place to go have a beverage, so we decided to do a Yelp search for bars in the area, and Dirk's was one of the options that popped up. We figured we might as well give it a shot, as you never know when you might find your new favorite watering hole! The parking lot was large (and icy, so be careful in winter!), and Dirk's takes up a good sized bit of the strip where it's located. The windows are tinted, and it's a little bit dark and dingy when you first walk in, but there was a decent crowd of all ages in for the later football game, and most people seemed to be having a good time, so that was cool. We grabbed two seats at the bar and were immediately served by the friendly bartender. The drink options at Dirk's aren't fancy, but they are certainly cheap. For a Captain and Diet Coke and a 22 oz Boulevard Wheat, our tab was $8.25. My Captain and Diet was $3.75, and it was a good, strong pour. You can't really beat that. No one was playing any pool or anything, as the focus was on one of the many TVs showing the game, but there was a big area that had pool tables, arcade games, etc. We didn't get food, but other people around us ordered some items that smelled great (I overheard the server saying they "have the best onion rings in KC, no joke"). I'd definitely be up for a return visit, and really would like to try the food the next time around. Dirk's isn't my new favorite bar yet, but it's close, friendly, and cheap, so I'll be back!

Dark, quiet, inexpensive. All the things I like in a bar. The food is good. I haven't tried anything that will be something I crave in the future but I haven't been disappointed in anything either. Service is always great.

In the four times I've been there, I've never made it past the bar. I'm told there is a whole lot more space if you go around it and to the left. Something about that bar just makes me want to sit at it. Yes the drinks are cheap and the specials are great. The 4-7 p.m. happy hour will be the best time to try out this bar, though, the regular prices aren't that far off. Today, I needed a clear view of the things they were doing to my car at Tires Plus, somehow it made me feel like I was in charge. I ordered some bar fare. The ham and cheese boasted 4 cheeses, my best guess is it meant 4 slices. Don't get me wrong it was a delicious crispy, unfancy ham and cheese. The tots it was pared with would make anyone save them in cargo pants pockets for later. I like this place. It's comfortable, the food goes well with the cheap beer. It's the kind of place people could go in their sweat pants. Not that that kind of behavior is acceptable but you could. It's a good dark bar for surveillance purposes or whatever you want to go there to do.

KAREOKE. Yeah, that's what's memorable (as most of the singers were average or below average). Other than that, it wasn't too lively for a Friday night. There was a good amount of people there, but they didn't look like they were in a partying mood. It's an age range of mostly 20 and 30 somethings. The waitress didn't come around often, so we had to get up from our table to hit the bar for drinks. When she did come around, she asked, but we had just gotten back to our table with drinks. Talk about bad timing! They have pool tables, shuffleboard, some video games, multiple tv's, areas to dance, and a digital jukebox. The place is quite large. We didn't try the food. Just the liquid diet for the evening.

Stiffff drinks, true size pints of beer, jukebox (digital one but whatever) and a bunch of super random people to look at. Sounds like a ladies night to me.

Haven't been here since 2000, but to this day there hasn't been a burger come close to rocking my world as the one I had here. Hopefully they're still making them that way. I'm not a sports bar guy, so the only reason I wound up here was because the guy I was in in town doing business with made the suggestion. Best burger I've ever had...hands down. It's gotta be if I still remember it 11 years later right??

Dirk's is a great neighborhood-style bar. Nothing fancy, but it's not a dumpy dive either. We had a SUPERB waitress, she took care of us on my husband's birthday and never complained about having to find us wherever we had wandered in the bar and bring our drinks. She also did a great job of keeping me informed of the balance on my tab as I had asked her to do. All staff is friendly and accommodating. Food was delicous too. My cocktails were $4.25 each for top shelf - and they pour 'em stiff. I'll be back!

We all know that you aren't going to Dirk's for the fine dining. Dirk's is a townie bar through and through and plenty of my best worst decisions originated at Dirk's. Decent prices on drinks, solid bar food with a good selection and while sometimes a bit slow, the service is friendly. Usually turn Dirk's into a bar crawl by hitting up Arthur's and then walking over to Bar Louie in Zona Rosa afterwards. Dirk's parking lot has always been a safe place to leave the car overnight.
